Be true to your soul...

Tucked away in a tranquil corner of the historic Hotel Julien Dubuque, Potosa Spa offers the perfect respite from the stressors of modern life. Inspired by a deep and authentic connection to nature and the history of our area, Potosa Spa’s peaceful setting and unparalleled services promote relaxation and restoration of the mind, body, and soul.

Shaped by Native American culture, specifically the Fox Medicine Wheel, therapies at Potosa Spa draw inspiration from the four directions: earth, air, water, and fire. The spa is named in honor of Potosa, daughter of the chief of the Fox Native American tribe which once inhabited this area. Legend has it she was also the wife of Julien Dubuque. Storytellers have called theirs “a great romance of the Old West.”

Our luxurious spa and salon space features exceptional treatment rooms, state-of-the-art pedicure stations, a serene relaxation room, a sophisticated salon, and a Spa Boutique offering the exclusive organic products used during your treatment as well as unique gift items. Also, as guests of Potosa Spa, we welcome you to enjoy our sunlit pool and fitness studio on the day of your visit.

A true jewel of Dubuque, Potosa Spa offers an elite destination spa experience that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated as you continue on to life’s next adventure.

COVID-19 Update: In light of Governor Reynolds’ declaration of a State of Public Health Disaster Emergency in the state of Iowa, we will be closing Caroline’s Restaurant, Riverboat Lounge, and Potosa Spa immediately. We will also be working with clients to determine how to manage any events that are impacted by this announcement. We will continue to keep our community abreast of the latest information on our social media channels. We are saddened to close our doors, but we are confident that the steps being taken today across the country and the world will result in better outcomes for everyone. Updated 3/17/20
